Dear Friends:

Eight months ago, I made the decision to run for State Representative because I didn’t like what I was seeing from our elected leaders and the special interests in Lansing. Now, with less than 24 hours until the polls open I am excited to share with you that we are on a path to victory tomorrow!

In the last few days, my opponent has proven that she will do anything she can to win the race, especially since we now know she has been waiting “her turn” for six years. This isn’t something that I believe is becoming of a public servant and I am eager to take a different type of leadership to Lansing.

Let me set the record straight on where I stand in this election and what my priorities will be as your State Representative:

CREATE JOBS

  • Creating jobs has to be a key focus of Lansing, encouraging businesses to develop and expand in Michigan.
  • From creating a workforce for the future, to making sure Michigan isn’t losing business to our neighboring states, getting our people back to work has to be a top priority.
CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING
  • Every year, Michigan’s budget mess seems to garner national attention for all of the wrong reasons. As State Representative, I will not take a paycheck for any day after October 1 that the budget is not complete.
  • I fully support a part-time legislature with part-time pay. I believe that leading by example when cutting spending is the key to earning respect and support for your decisions.
ELMINATE GOVERNMENT RED TAPE
  • The new outsourcing Michigan is facing isn’t overseas, but just over our borders into Indiana and Ohio. With our outstanding workforce and stunning natural resources, we should be the first place companies want to expand. We must ensure that our economic climate will welcome new businesses and encourage job creators to expand in Michigan.
  • I will fight to stop the practice of government selecting winners and losers for industry specific tax breaks, and work to attract all businesses to Michigan, creating an array of jobs for our qualified workforce.
LOWER TAXES
  • Reforming the Michigan Business Tax should be priority one of the next Legislature, including eliminating the job-killing MBT Surcharge.
  • Keeping taxes and fees under control in Lansing should be a focal point of every State Representative, and I am committed to looking at the financial impact on our citizens before casting any vote.
FIGHT FOR YOU
  • Education is something that our community is known for, and is an integral part of our economic climate.
  • We must protect education funding, and ensure that we provide both K-12 opportunities in our communities and attract students to our outstanding Higher Education facilities.
  • Safe communities are one of the main points anyone looks at before moving their family or their business to a new location. We must ensure public safety services are well funded and have all of the tools they need to fight crime in the 21st century.

I’ve learned that politics is unpredictable, but also that there is a huge need to take a dose of common sense to Lansing, even if it means we need to shake things up. Our Legislators need to lead by example by keeping special interests in check, being diligent stewards of public dollars and representing the citizens that sent them to Lansing.

That said, I believe I am the most qualified candidate for State Representative and am ready to take a fresh vision and fresh ideas to the State Capitol. We’ve come a long way since we began this adventure eight months ago, and now I ask again for your support at the polls tomorrow.
